It's a warm breezy Sunday afternoon and I'm writing a review of Ray Wylie Hubbard's latest record, "Grifter's Hymnal" on Bordello records, when my phone announces that I have a new email.
I grab the phone and look, hoping this is finally the email from Sirius Satellite Radio I've been dreaming to get one day. I look, it's not Sirius - It's even better!
It's Plowboy humbly suggesting I take a look at a video of their performance at La Grange in Dallas, Texas of the tune "Blood In My Boots".
I know if it's from Plowboy it's going to be good so I went straight to YouTube and pressed play. Within about 30 seconds I was completely drawn into their expertly performed tune, at first entranced with Evan O'Brien's guitar playing, but it wasn't long before Isaac Brodsky chimed in with his pulverizing bass solo, coupled with Jonah Smith's singing and rhythm guitar, finally bound in a nice neat skins pounding package by Colin Scruggs. Ultimately, but the end of "Blood In My Boots" everyone had shined. However, Mr. O'Brien actually did spill blood. He played so vigorously he actually slashed his thumb!
By the end of the tune I was applauding and literally jumping up and down like an idiot. Like an idiot because I'm in my small cabin-home, alone hoopin' and hollerin' like a banshee! I'm surprised the neighbor's didn't call the Kerrville State Hospital to take me away.
Don't believe me? See for yourself!
Plowboy and "Blood In My Boots" - Dig it! You guys inspire me!

Hey it's Mark Scruggs, Just caught this, I was there that night and I had the same reaction - totally biased, but it was serious rock n roll!
