FUTB Weekend Update - No show Saturday night and why - upcoming concert review & Brennen Leigh and Noel McKay at Lazy Days Canteen -

By 'Rebel' Rod Ames

I just wanted to let everyone know there would not be a radio show Saturday night.

Last week the show was  preempted by the Texas A&M/Texas Tech football game. I may have been able to do an abbreviated version of the show, but didn't want to diminish the quality of the show, so I decided to put it off while I collect some new music.

My new found minor-fame has landed me a gig this coming Saturday night, DJ'ing a wedding reception! I've never done that before, so wish me luck. Looking forward to it though. It'll be fun! Hell, I practically know everyone there, so it there is no reason in the world to be nervous. Right? Whatever! I'm scared sh**less! It'll be fine though! I hope...Sigh...stop!

Now then - there will be a special treat sometime here in the very near future, like later on this weekend...I hope. Roving reported Allison Sullivan traveled to Austin Thursday evening to witness  Bela Fleck and the Flecktones live at The Paramount! She will be submitting her tale sometime this weekend, with some photos. I'll get it posted here as soon as she gets the story to me. I wish I could have been at that one myself!

One more thing - and this is another show going on that I wish I could attend, but have my inaugural gig to do Saturday evening. Brennen Leigh and Noel McKay will be performing here in West Kerr County at Roddy Tree Ranch's, Lazy Days Canteen - It will be a wonderful show. If you live within 50 to 100 miles of here you should make an effort to be there. Keith serves up some fine viddles and has an eclectic selection of beers and vino!

That is going to do it for the FUTB update this Friday. Stay safe and I'll be back on the air next Saturday evening on "The Real Deal" Kook 93.5 in Junction and KERV 1230 AM in Kerrville and, of course, on the 'WWW' at 10 PM Central, Texas A&M football permitting!

See ya on then.......RR
