'Rebel' Rod's Revelations - Plowboy's Jonah Smith and his tune "Mind Hell" is pure genius -

By 'Rebel' Rod Ames

A month or so ago I wrote about a young man named Jonah Smith. My good friend Tony Gallucci had mentioned that he was traveling to Dallas to shoot him and his band Plowboy for a documentary he was working on.

Not long after that Jonah and his Father, Jon Paul Smith, drove down to Kerrville to meet with Kathleen Hudson, Tony Young, Fowler Carson, Tony, and myself at Spirit Wind Java. We all sat around watching him consume his three-cheese grilled cheese sandwich as he patiently answered questions from us.

After the Q & A was complete, Tony asked him if he would like to play a tune for us. This is the tune, "Mind Hell". He had written it the night before. In fact, at this time it was still mostly living in that incredible brain of his. His good friend and bass player for Plowboy, Isaac Brodsky, told me he has thousands of those songs up in his head!

Just watch, you'll see what I mean. By the way, did I mention Jonah is 13 years old?
