'Rebel' Rod's Ramblings and other things - Things to watch for - guests, new music, etc. -

By 'Rebel' Rod Ames

I got back from my mini-vacation to Port Aransas, Texas extremely exhausted but in a good way.

Bay fishing all day and then seeking out the perfect eatery to cook it all up can be quite exhausting, but worth every moment.

Actually, Charlie, our fishing guide for this trip, told us about Castaway's there on the island. We followed his advice and they did and exemplary job of preparing our catch. We ooohed and awed all the way through the meal and we plan to repeat this event in the near future.

While at breakfast the other day at the world famous Del Norte's Restaurant in Kerrville, Texas, I ran into Critter Fuqua, banjo extraordinaire with The Old Crow Medicine Show. He agreed to come on my show in the very near future. I'm hoping we can make this happen this coming Saturday evening. He's going to try and bring a gentlemen fiddle player along so we can enjoy some live music on "From Under the Basement". It promises to be a lot of fun.

Eric Hisaw has also agreed to come on the show as well as Jeff Smith of the Hickoids and then yesterday, I get an email from Christen Thomas who said she'd love to get The Devil Makes Three on the show.

Anyway, a lot of exciting stuff is coming up in the near future and you will hear it all on my show on Saturday evenings from 10 pm until midnight on "The Real Deal" KOOK 93.5 in Junction or on KERV 1230 AM in Kerrville, Texas if you live in the Hill Country. If not then simply click HERE to listen to it all on the web.

You may have noticed it's been cut down to 2 hours. This is by my request. I think it will be a better show. I plan to dig up new music fitting for "From Under the Basement" and include more live guest spots. I think you are all going to really dig it.

So stay tuned and I'll see you on the radio. Oh yeah! ...and enjoy The Devil Makes Three performing "All Hail" -
